#GoodnightRoozle: A Year of Drawing Herself to Sleep
A year ago, she wouldn’t go to sleep. She got out of bed to ask us questions. She called for us. She cried that she was lonely. She needed to be tucked in again. And again. And again. She sometimes napped at school, but we didn’t always know when. Making her go to sleep when she really wasn’t tired felt awful, but sometimes she really needed to go to sleep.
So she started to draw.
A year later, she’s still drawing. Almost every night, she draws before falling asleep. She doesn’t ask as many questions. She stays in her bed, except to get more paper. She still goes to sleep at different times every night, but it’s no longer a struggle.
Drawing totally rules. Goodnight, Roozle.
