Sometimes I Forget
I forget that we live just minutes from the ocean and a castle. Guess who completely freaked out about that? She made up all kinds of stories about the queen who lived there then died.
I forget that I can watch the sunset while she plays.
I forget that the wonder I see in her is the same I feel in myself, mixed with a bit of OMG PLEASE DON’T FALL IN WHILE YOU ARE SITTING ON THE EDGE LIKE THAT. Wonder and fear.
I forget that a sunset at the ocean is just as beautiful on a day that feels like winter as it is in the heat of summer. And that the stroller is still useful all these years later for a long walk on a cold day.
“Mommy, it’s so cold I can’t even breathe.”
For real, Roozle.
