I See You
You’re tired from new friends and new teachers and a new space and finally mastering the monkey bars. I see you.
You’re hungry because you don’t have enough time at lunch and the time you do have, you spend mostly talking with your friends. You have a whole summer to catch up on. I see you.
You’re struggling to listen and you’re full of asking for things and all the arguments. Because your body isn’t settled into so much sitting still quite yet. So many directions and rules. I see you.
The first week of school is always hard. It will be better. For all of us. We’ll find our way. Not quite yet, though. So, let’s all try to go gently.
Maybe we should always just go gently. I see me too.
