Accessible Happy

Do you have things in your life that make you happy? A beautiful latte, like this one. Chuck Taylor high tops. Reaching into my pocket for a pen and finding one (almost always). A hot cup of tea at night before bed. Instagram. My vest. A good hoodie.

I think it’s really important to have a list of what makes you happy. Easy, accessible things. I know if I’m having a hard day, I can escape to Starbucks, get a latte, and be back to the office within minutes. Knowing this is enough to get me through frustration and struggle at work. I don’t go every day. Or even every week. But I let myself go as needed. Because it’s important to have access to happy.

I didn’t always have a list. This is new to me. But it’s as important to know what can bring you happiness as it is to access it. Because that’s part of the struggle, right? We don’t even really take the time to figure this stuff out. We just keep going. We let life happen.

That’s okay. It’s okay to be busy. But it’s better if you can figure out what makes you happy and make sure you have access to that when you need it.

What’s on your list?
