I’m never more aware of what we’re eating than in the summer. We have been doing most of our shopping at our favorite local farm on weekends. We read signs, not stickers. Notes, not packages. It makes the reality of all the packages we purchase and all the processed food we consume, overwhelming.
After stopping at the farm this morning for flowers, cheese, eggs, strawberries, and greens, I went to the co-op for bread. After reading the ingredients, and knowing I had no plans this afternoon, I decided to make our favorite whole wheat chapati flat bread instead.
2 cups whole wheat flour
3/4 cup warm water
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
Mix it, roll it out, cook it on the stovetop in a dry pan. When it bubbles, flip it.
I had forgotten how much Roozle loves this bread. She ate a whole piece, plain, right from the stove. Perfect.
