The Sixth Light

Tonight we hold those suffering in the light. Including our own sadness and fears. We hold those in Newtown. The families. The neighbors. The first responders. The friends.

Last night I lit our morning candles again and let one burn too low. It burned a mark into the ring. In a way I started to feel a little bit of peace, knowing that the little mark would forever remind me of the lives lost. At each season and family birthday, we will think of them and their families. We would shine a light for them and hold them in our hearts just as we did last night and tonight.

We are now halfway through the ring. I am reflecting upon balance. Light and dark. We walked tonight in the crisp cold air. We were out when the sun set and the evening settled. It was just what we needed.
